In 2016, 12 public school districts reported an increase in students eligible for the free or reduced lunch program from the previous academic year. Three York County school districts reported a higher percentage than Pennsylvania’s average of 48%; one of them, the School District of the City of York, reported 100% of its students were eligible for the program in the 2016-2017 school year.
